We did a video last Summer following a single 9’6 Lumberjack all the way through production. Hopefully it helps give some insight into the steps that go in to making a custom surfboard. Interesting to note how dark the blue tint looks in the cup, while Greg is mixing it, compared to how it looks when the board is getting laminated. That’s part of the reason that working in resin tints isn’t an exact science, it’s an art. Clutch also demonstrates how he glasses Gully’s wooden fins onto the boards. We hope this video is interesting and informative. Thanks to Cam Oden for putting it together. Steps, in order: Shape -> Laminate -> Glass-On Fin -> Hotcoat -> Sand -> Gloss & Polish.

Talking Surfboards // Cyrus Sutton
Griffin, Cam and I Met up with Cyrus to talk surfboards on Friday… get a new Cy’s Aquatic Almond in the works for him… and a little something new for Summer. Intense surfboard conversations either need visual references, or excessive hand gestures and surf reenactments. For the sake of time and accuracy, we went with visual references. This one is a Lumberjack that’s headed to France next month.

Warm Water Days of Old // Grey Monday
A grey day back in the Fall, when it was still warm enough for Trunks. Sounding pretty good on a rainy Monday.
